Apprentice/Associate Project Manager

 

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Apprentice / Entry-Level Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and execution of construction, electrical, and low-voltage trade projects. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in construction project management, with hands-on exposure to electrical, low-voltage, IT infrastructure, and public-sector projects.

The Project Manager will work closely with senior project managers, field supervisors, electricians, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in compliance with codes and contract requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Administration

  • Assist in managing electrical, low-voltage, and construction trade projects from pre-construction through close-out
  • Track project schedules, milestones, and deliverables
  • Maintain organized project documentation including contracts, drawings, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and close-out packages
  • Support preparation of daily reports, meeting minutes, and status updates

Field & Trade Support

  • Coordinate with field crews (electricians, low-voltage technicians, subcontractors)
  • Attend job walks, site meetings, inspections, and punch walks
  • Assist with material tracking, delivery coordination, and inventory control
  • Help verify work completed aligns with drawings, specifications, and scope of work

Financial & Cost Tracking

  • Assist with tracking labor hours, material costs, and project budgets
  • Support change order documentation and pricing
  • Help prepare pay applications, invoices, and cost backup documentation

 

 

Compliance & Safety

  • Support compliance with local and state building codes, electrical codes (NEC), and safety standards
  • Assist with prevailing wage documentation, certified payroll tracking, and public-sector compliance (when applicable)
  • Promote jobsite safety and adherence to company safety policies

Communication & Client Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for internal teams and external partners under supervision
  • Communicate professionally with clients, inspectors, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Escalate risks, delays, or scope issues to senior project management

Qualifications & Requirements

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong interest in construction, electrical, or trade project management
  • Basic understanding (or willingness to learn) construction drawings and specifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or Google Workspace
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Internship, trade school, or field experience in construction or electrical work
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, low-voltage systems, or IT infrastructure
  • Experience with project management or construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, etc.)
